With Christmas *just* around the corner, this month has been about looking for gift ideas and stocking up on all time favourites beauty products ...
MAC Pro Longwear Foundation - "A long-wear foundation that gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition. Lightweight and creamy, applies smoothly to provide sheer to medium coverage. even in hot or humid condition, controls oil to keep skin fresh, natural and flawless. provides everyday SPF protection. $A54" - Yes, while this is my everyday foundation, I have included it in my October favourites because I have tried many other foundations an BB creams this months but always come back to the MAC Pro Longwear. The formula is very lightweight but provides medium to full coverage and truely has a matte-almost-satin finish. Last all day long and always looks just as fresh as when I applied it in the morning. If re-purchases and backups are anything to go buy, this would be, at least, my 5th bottle and I always ensure I have at least 2 shades (currently NC 25 - NC 30) leading into summer.
Jennifer Lopez Perfume in 'Still' - named after a song - "Still is an unforgettable impression. The signature of sake, suprising and vibrant, blended with sensual honeysuckle and florals, wrapped in seductive sandalwood. Sheer, captivating and real" Sheer elements: sake note, mandarin and earl grey. Capitivating elements: Pink Fresia, Honeysuckle and Orange Flower. Real elements: Sandalwood, Amber and Oriss.
Perfume is very personal, intimate and perhaps the most difficult beauty product to review as scent is very hard to describe. However, I think perfume is still one of the most thoughtful gifts for Christmas. While looking for presents for my nearest and dearest, I re-purchased my all time favourite perfume. Celebrity perfumes do not often receieve many praises compared to designer perfumes - but I love Still. I've been wearing since my late teens and still love the scent, which says it all because I usually get bored of scents very quickly and rarely re-purchase scents once the bottle has finished. Still is one of those always-receive-compliments kind of perfumes.
China Glaze in Sugar High - At first, when I saw Sugar High in the bottle, I was a little disappointed as it did not look like any of the swatches and though 'oh great another hot pink polish ...' but on the nails its a creamy, juicy medium pink with a hint of coral. The warmth from the coral makes it a little more special, distinct from other bright pinks and perfect colour for a summer pedicure.
Lioele Cheek Beam Blusher - I have been wearing this gorgeous pink cream blush every single day, either by itself or as a base for powder blushes. I apply it with my fingers and then blend it out with my Sigma F82 Round Top Kabuki Brush . Full Lioele review.
My Beauty Diary Bird’s Nest Mask - "Whitens, nourishes and renews the skin. Bird’s nest extract, a precious ingredient, and corallina officinalis, the so-called “bird’s nest from the bottom of the sea”, intensely enhances skin’s moisture level, and nourishes strongly. Hydrolyzed soy and rice protein enhance skin’s defence, elasticity and transparency. They also relieve discomfort resulting from dryness. It is suitable for normal skin. It is especially recommended for dry, rough and dull skin."
I am still very skeptical when it comes to the miracle claims of facial masks - whitens, brightens, and tightens ... really? However, I do believe that the process of applying face masks for 10-20 minutes a few times a week is super relaxing and calming for my skin and the layer of essence makes my skin, especially around my dry cheeks, feel more moisturised the next day.
Pinky-peaches and Peachy-pinks
This Spring, I have fallen in love with pinky-peaches or peachy-pinks. It's not quite pink and it's not quite peach ... with a touch of fruity tangerines and soft corals. It's a fresh twist to my go-to cool tone pinks. Once I fall in love with a colour ... I start to collect everything! Pinky-peaches and peachy-pinks have invaded my everyday makeup and my wardrobe ...
The light-weight, sheer blazer is showing up as a pink but is a true apricot pink
Scallop shorts are a must for Spring!
Cool pastel pink mixed with a bright peachy-pink - LOVE!
Have you started Christmas shopping, and if so - do you like to give makeup and beauty products as gifts? Also, would love to know, what colour are you loving right now, so much so it has invaded your makeup and wardrobe?
Lots of love
Faye Lu
